Before acceding to political responsibility, young Lorenzo de’ Medici had cultural obligations which had to convey a certain image of power particularly during elaborate public celebrations. The brigata - a group of young noblemen gathered around the most prominent heir - played an important part in civic rituals. In the specific case of Lorenzo the Magnificent, the festivities organized by his brigata offered a fantasized and seductive image of power to the other members of the Florentine oligarchy. The Medici were in fact trying to assert their preeminence in Florence through cultural and artistic prestige, without offending the city’s oligarchic and republican sensibility. In this context, Lorenzo’s chivalric courtship towards Lucrezia Donati actively participated to this strategy by magnifying the public image of the young heir. This episode was broadcast by various artistic media in order to target specific audiences and create a coherent and efficient story in which Lorenzo played the part of the perfect courtly lover. However, there is another interpretation of this love affair. Idealized in public festivities, this episode becomes a literary amusement in private letters exchanged within young Lorenzo’s brigata. Intimacy with the future ruler and friendly writing allow to slightly undermine the official version of a perfectly conventional courtly love. The use of literary irony, secret language, double meanings and popular language tend to subvert the mythical image widely conveyed. By examining the different versions of the same story, this paper aims at bringing light on the characteristics of this specific literary and artistic sensibility in which young Lorenzo has grown both as a poet and as a statesman.

This article aims to analyse the « scriptorium » of Goldoni, an author who chose to define himself as a professional writer for the stage and to bridge the irreducible distance between the latter and writing, through his presence in the entire life process of the dramatic text – from creation to staging and publication – and through the constant, fruitful and complex relationship with the troupes of actors with whom he collaborated. The study of the dialectical relationship between author and actor allows for a better analysis of the creative process of the dramatic work, showing how, in the case of Goldoni, writing reveals the profound intermediality of the theatre.

The article explores the movie version of Alberto Moravia's La Noia (1960) directed by Damiano Damiani in 1963. The research looks at the adaptation from the particular viewpoint of nudity characterisation. The connotations and methods of nudity representation are investigated by analysing the strategies used by the director to compensate for the impossibility of exhibiting the body, in relation with the multimedia implemented in his movie through painting, photography, and music. Especially the medium of painting is investigated, as it is closely linked to the qualification of the main characters and the representation of the relationship among art, eros, and reality.

Pasolini’s plural work, placed under the sign of a poetic «hypergenre», is characterized by the richness and variety of his intermediate practices. Far from being unifying, the poetic form presides over a break-up of the work, essentially «impure», crossed by contradictions, defined by a constitutive ambiguity. Such practices, which take on various forms in Pasolini’s work, are therefore intended to make this ambiguity exist. Images, texts and music contaminate, enrich and collide each other. The poetry is visual, the cinema is crossed by pictorial images, the art of montage favors rhythm and poetic expressiveness. Far from being an aesthetising, mannerist or even decadent posture, intermediality allows to preserve and translate an essential part of otherness and contradiction. It is an essential role of the poet: to make heard or show the «difference» denied or hated by a conformist world. La Rabbia, this «ideological and poetic essay», perhaps carries to its highest degree such mission of the poet. Pasolinian intermediality is both contamination and clash: generic borders become blurred and explode, enriching the work while destroying its unity. A mixture and an excess: the metaphor of the «hybrid» body is thus a particularly relevant image of Pasolini’s work.

The opera Don Giovanni has inspired many artists and marks an important step in the evolution of the myth of Don Juan. Joseph Losey manages to use the constraints and codes of the hybrid film-opera genre to further enrich Mozart’s masterpiece. Pierre-Jean Remy, after having taken an interest in Losey’s work in a critical essay, offers his own rewriting of the film. His novel makes numerous references to earlier versions of the myth and is presented as an intermedial work which combines literature, music and film.

This article analyses the way the story told in the novel by Elena Ferrante La vita bugiarda degli adulti (2019) is expanded upon in the homonymous series adaptation directed by Edoardo de Angelis. The study focuses on the ability of audiovisual media to employ a network of media (music, cinema, photography, visual art, literature itself) to develop and enhance some cultural elements of the story, and to echo its main themes. The article concentrates also on the way the series relates to the setting, given the strong symbolic role played in the story by the city of Naples.
