Pierre-Jean Remy, après s’être intéressé au travail de Losey dans un essai critique, en propose, à son tour, une réécriture romanesque. Son roman multiplie les mises en abyme des versions antérieures du mythe et se présente comme une œuvre intermédiale, mêlant littérature, musique et cinéma. The opera Don Giovanni has inspired many artists and marks an important step in the evolution of the myth of Don Juan. Joseph Losey manages to use the constraints and codes of the hybrid film-opera genre to further enrich Mozart’s masterpiece. Pierre-Jean Remy, after having taken an interest in Losey’s work in a critical essay, offers his own rewriting of the film. His novel makes numerous references to earlier versions of the myth and is presented as an intermedial work which combines literature, music and film.
